A matter of opinion.
I think we confuse opinion for perspective. We all do. I’m not being a dick about it. I just think one is of almost no value to anyone. The other is infinitely valuable to everyone. With one, only one person wins. With the other, everyone does. I think it’s because opinions are easy to count with machines. They only count one time, one way, on one level (like if you agree!). The only people who care about it (your opinion) though only want your attention. That, or your money, another thing that’s easy to count with machines.
Perspective is when you see something there + share it from where only you see it. Perspective takes understanding + empathy to matter + make sense. The only way I can understand you is by you telling me what you feel, not how you feel about it. If it’s in the world, it exists. Too late to have an opinion about it. I don’t give a shit if you like it, of course it feels nice when you do but, what matters more + will matter more to more people, is what it looks like from where you’re standing. That’s something I will never be able to know. It’s why nature broke itself up into all these insane things like penguins + zebras + people + cake + flowers + cars. So it could see itself from all these different perspectives.
Counting your opinion is only good for making other people feel like they don’t count. Everything counts. It wouldn’t be here if it didn’t. Fuck your opinion, I want to hear your perspective.
