Art takes a lot more energy than I think it needs to.

Commitment is important because it eliminates the idea of trying which makes you vulnerable to failure / criticism.

I think it’s arrogant for an artist to think they make art. The true artist lets the art make itself through them.

By making every aspect of my life art + creating a framework of ideas / principles for living my life, art can express itself through me at any moment it chooses without me thinking I have to direct it toward any specific outcome.

Instead of trying to create a thing that has meaning, I can create a space for meaning to show up in everything + document that moment unfolding. Then it gets to break free of the trap of becoming a story about something + just being the story itself. That is more art than any painting ever could be. It’s what painting has always aspired to be.
